cerebralsnack answered your question: Now that I’ve calmed down,
I still don’t respect nor appreciate nor understand people who enjoy Skrillex, but I appreciate the recognition of a great artist.
Really? Because I certainly respect and appreciate and understand all kinds of people who enjoy a great variety of music, no matter what kind of music it is. Respect, especially, because different people are what music fun and exciting. There’s so much variety out there, which is why I enjoy music so much in the first place.
Personally, I listen to everything from pop to country to dubstep to EDM and sure, I enjoy some more than others, and I don’t enjoy folk at all, but doesn’t mean I don’t respect it. Artists are all different, but there’re all out there for the same reason - to bring their music to the world and to have people enjoy it.
Bon Iver is a great artist, and I recognize that. He deserved the best new artist award as much as Sonny did. Like Bon Iver, Sonny has saved people with his music. Both of them has brought happiness and joy to people through their music. They’ve accomplished the same thing through the same medium of music. They just sound different.
No one’s better than anyone else, especially when it’s all for such a great reason. Sure, I’ve got my favourite artists, but I will never claim that one of mine is better than one of your favourites, and certainly, I would never judge you by what you listen to. So let me ask you, why is it that you don’t respect, understand, or appreciate Sonny Moore if he achieves the same thing as Bon Iver?
